Annapolis Juneteenth will be popping up to celebrate the historic day of freedom through art, poetry, fashion, stories and more! Support Annapolis Juneteenth by visiting the gallery where you can buy limited edition t-shirts and celebrate Juneteenth in so many unique ways from exploring the Juneteenth Freedom Way Exhibit to attending a special fundraiser.

Special Fundraisers:

May 10: Sip and Paint– The public is invited to sit down and paint with us. An experienced artist will lead the session. The theme will be Freedom.

May 17: Poetry Night– A night of music and poetry as artists share their reflections on oppression, resistance, and liberation. Cash bar and refreshments. Designated artists are chosen to create during the poetry contest. Their work is auctioned at the end of the evening and proceeds benefit the Juneteenth Festival. The winning poets will be featured on the Big Stage at the Juneteenth 2024 Festival.

June 1: Fashion Trunk Show– Couture fashion show featuring designs by Craig Coates Couture.

June 8, 4-6pm: Healing Circles Conversation– A conversation about race and culture with an emphasis on the Freedom Way Project with featured authors and panelists. Breakout sessions and a community chat board will be displayed at the Juneteenth Festival revealing the collaborative efforts of the community to engage and “pay it forward”.

Art Exhibit Night– Featuring the art of Antonio Marlin and a conversation with him about his inspiration for his work. Music by Craig Dobson. Refreshments and cash bar.

May 8, 15, and 22. June 5 and 12:  Child’s Play– This is a special space dedicated to children learning about Juneteenth. We will have coloring activities and story tellers along with some artifacts. Kid Biz vendors will be setup to showcase the young entrepreneurs.

Movie Night– Documentary entitled “Freedom Way” and conversation about the dissertation of Dr. Coates.

Bring a chair or blanket to join Busch Library for some musical fun with the whole family! Sing, chant, play instruments and dance while exploring sounds, rhythms and patterns that make up our language.

Recommended for Ages: 0-5

This event will be 30 minutes and all children must be chaperoned by an adult. Free event, no tickets required.
